Our History…

Shining Light Inn began many years ago as a far-off dream.

In the spring of 2012, doors started opening for this dream to become a reality. It has been an exciting and at times not so easy road, but we always had faith that God was leading every step of the way through this adventure.

After completion of our new home in January of 2014, (which is a long story in itself) the real fun began. The vision of the Inn has been to make our home feel like “home” to every person that walks through the door. This has been and still is a labor of love.

Meet the Innkeepers…

We have always enjoyed hosting and entertaining friends and family in our home. Deep down we knew this gift of hospitality would play an important part in our lives.

We have been married for over 28 years. We were never blessed with children, but we do have a furry cat kid, Mimsey.

Luke runs his own agronomy consulting business, staying quite busy throughout the whole year. He enjoys getting to know all kinds of people.

Carin keeps busy with many crafts & hobbies when time permits. She loves to hear peoples’ stories… she is also an aspiring writer.

We cannot wait to meet you! Welcome to our home!

Your Innkeepers, Luke & Carin Orth

The Area…

The Ludington Area is really a four-season destination. Of course Summer is the obvious season, but the colors of Fall, the beauty of Winter, and the renewal of Spring makes for a fabulous getaways too.

The Inn is set in a quiet area of Hamlin Township, only 4 miles from downtown Ludington. We have 10 wooded acres for a refreshing, natural setting. Ludington State Park, one of Michigan's top rated State Parks, is just over 2 miles from our drive. In the warmer season you will find swimming in Lake Michigan or Hamlin Lake, canoeing, kayaking, tubing & hiking. There are 4 majestic lighthouses to explore within a 25 mile radius. Or if relaxing is more your speed, visit one of the great food establishments in the area, wine tasting and many breweries too. Not to mention shopping, fishing, or boating! And right here at the Inn we have covered porches with seating, to enjoy the natural beauty surrounding us.

When the snow flies you can go snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or downhill ski resorts are just a short drive away. Not to mention the big New Years Even celebration.
